Little Yogis at Home is designed for your child to learn how to look within and notice their body & physical sensations, their thoughts, & their emotions. Yoga can help to burn off energy during those long winter months, teach self-regulation through breath practices, awareness, & concentration. Every class also teaches the importance of slowing down, rest, & accessing the low tone parasympathetic nervous system, rest & digest. We may leave the practice feeling happy & free!
Yoga "asana" translates to yoga poses; this is often what we think of when we think of Yoga in the West. These classes involve Yoga poses, movement, breath, imagination, a playful theme, and end with a sweet opportunity to rest. Enjoy!
Meditation can be a powerful tool to settle our bodies and control our thoughts in our minds that can sometimes show up like tornados swirling & whirling around in an unsettled way. Celeste's approach to meditations & guided relaxations for kids are fun, playful, and an opportunity for them to use their amazing imaginations. Enjoy these practices!
Our breath is the only part of our autonomic nervous system which we have control over. This makes it a powerful tool to help us regulate our nervous system & our emotions. Breathing practices in Yoga are called Prānāyāma or "breath control." We can use our breath to calm or energize our system. In this module you will find audio recordings of both. Once you learn these quick practices you can also do them without the recordings. Enjoy!
Yoga Nidra or Yogic Sleep is a guided practice meant to work on the layers of your being known as the koshas (sheaths) in Yoga tradition. We systematically work to bring awareness to & relax all of these layers. In Yoga Nidra for children we take an imaginative, creative, & playful approach. Yoga Nidra is a state between sleep & wake; Celeste likes to describe it to children as taking a nap without falling asleep.
