These classes take a bigger concept and break it down into smaller digestible parts so that we can really work toward a strong foundation.
Restorative Yoga is defined as the supportive use of props to illicit a healing response. Practicing restorative yoga we need a consistent temperature in our environment, the ability to turn within with consistent noise levels and dim lights or an eye covering, adequate support for our bodies, and a safe environment. In these classes we use the soothing balm of a restorative pose where we build a nest of props, rest, and activate our parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest).
In yin yoga we practice longer held (2-5 minutes) passive stretches; poses are low to the ground, generally seated or supine. We focus on putting stress on the connective tissues such as the ligaments, joints, fascia, and tendons of the hips, pelvis, sacrum, and spine in order to build range of motion. This class allows you to turn inward, observe, and move qi through the meridians of the body.
These classes are designed to address a certain are of the body that may need more attention. They may also integrate teachings and concepts from Celeste's background as a registered social worker. Please check with your doctor before practicing if you are experiencing any injuries.
These classes are designed to be down regulating to the nervous system. They are often done close to the mat without many standing postures involved in the practice. These classes are great to do before bed to wind down, when you are feeling low on energy but still need to move, or when you are feeling activated and need to ground yourself.
Flow Yoga is a balance of form and flow; it moves through the sequence in a slower flow with opportunity to refine alignment, and ends with a blissful Savasana (final relaxation). Classes are an opportunity to go deep and explore; to create introspection and mindfulness.
Vinyasa is a dynamic & fluid practice, in Sun Salutations we link breath and movement to create a strong and powerful flow. We will use Ujjayi breath and poses to generate heat, stamina, & flexibility. Enjoy these classes that get you moving and trying different postures!
These classes were by request and offer you a chance to take a break from your work to give some care and attention to your body, quiet your mind, and soothe your nervous system by connecting with your breath and yourself. These classes are 5 and a half to 13 minutes long, the perfect length to add a movement break to your day!
